I feel very strongly that the self-righteous name-calling being done by national leaders on both sides is counterproductive. I am particularly concerned that national leaders such as Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer are calling people at town meetings who express their frustration with government “un-American.” That is insulting and demeaning. Thousands upon thousands of Americans have given their lives over more than 200 years so that people could voice their opinions about government.

Then there was the White House asking people to bring critical words to their attention. Just because people oppose massive spending, single payer national healthcare, and higher taxes, that does not make them “un-American.” There are few things more American than making one’s views on the issues of the day known to our elected officials
