Reed Stunned by Massa Video
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tom Reed today reacted to the video of Congressman Eric Massa which surfaced on the internet yesterday and has created an embarrassing situation for Massa. The video shows Massa at a meeting in Pittsburgh in which the Congressman discusses the possibility of stacking his town meetings with supporters from outside the district.
In the video, Massa clearly states that, "I will vote adamantly against the interests of my district.... I will vote against their opinion."
"I am concerned that Eric is not listening to our people in the district," Reed said. "He leads them to believe he wants our opinion then when he is out of public view he doesn't hesitate to say he will vote against our interests because he knows better. Why is he even in Pittsburgh meeting activists about stacking his town meetings?"
"This illustrates the differences between me and Eric Massa," Reed explained. "I trust the intelligence of people from upstate New York. I trust the voters to know what they want from their Doctors how they want to take care of their families when it comes to health care. Eric Massa clearly thinks that he knows better. I believe in our people. Eric Massa believes in himself."
I am stunned by Mr. Massa's arrogance," Reed concluded. "The people he meets with in our district understand upstate New York values. He moved into western New York shortly before he ran for office, but he doesn't understand us."
