Reed Reacts to President's Speech
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Congressional candidate Corning Mayor Tom Reed reacted to President Obama's speech tonight saying that he was pleased that the President has moved away from a complete government takeover of healthcare as supported by Eric Massa.
"Now that even the President has rejected the national, single-payer healthcare reform that Congressman Massa has proposed with his sponsored HR 676, I call on Eric Massa to work for reform that does not include a government takeover of healthcare," Reed said. "I remain, and will always remain opposed to putting the government between patients and doctors."
Reed further challenged Congressman Massa to "support President Obama's proposed malpractice and tort reform, use of business tax credits to incentivize reform, and reliance on competition to hold down costs. These are items that healthcare reform must include," Reed said. "I hope that Congressman Massa gets behind these ideas."
