Twenty-Ninth District Congressional Race Rated a Toss-Up by Noted Political Scientists
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Noted University of Virginia Political Scientist Larry J. Sabato has listed the Congressional race in New York's 29th district as one of just 13 "toss-ups" heading into the 2010 elections. The contest between Corning Mayor Tom Reed and incumbent Congressman Eric J.J. Massa was rated as a "toss up" in Sabato and Isaac Woods latest "Crystal Ball" released last week. Sabato is noted for his accuracy and independence."
It's exciting to see that experts view this as a top-tier race," Reed said. "They are looking at voting history and party unification behind our candidacy. Our message of ending the negative, self-preserving politics practiced in Washington is resonating with voters. It's encouraging to get this kind of non-partisan recognition."
"Eric Massa's unyielding devotion to government run health care and his personal attacks on me are drawing people to our campaign," Reed said. "We're seeing a spike in donors and volunteers."
The local Congressional contest was also listed in a 9/13/09 New York Times report on which districts could switch parties in 2010.
