Reed Calls for Strong Sanctions Against Iran

Congressional candidate Corning Mayor Tom Reed today released a statement on the recent missile test firings and the continuing revelations of Iran's secretive nuclear program.

 

"Our country continues to be engaged in the ultimate sacrifice to ensure terror no longer resides in Iraq and Afghanistan. This sacrifice has cost the lives of thousands of American men and women dedicated to keep our nation safe."

 

"This is no question in my mind that Iran is a terrorist state that shelters terrorists and is a launching platform for terrorist acts around the world. Allowing them to develop the capability to send a nuclear weapon into Europe, Israel, or anywhere else presents a very real threat that must be stopped before it becomes a reality."

 

"I support the strongest possible sanctions against Iran right now. And, I believe that both Russia and China are ready to be cooperative with the United States and its allies, based on the recent Iranian deception about the progress of its nuclear program."

 

"The sooner that the United Nations Security Council can impose these sanctions, the sooner Iranian people will recognize the terrible tragic road their regime is taking them down."
