Initial Campaign Fund Raising Demonstrates Voter's Frustration with Eric Massa and Washington Politics
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Congressional candidate Corning Mayor Tom Reed today announced preliminary fund raising totals for the first quarter of his campaign. "People are showing very strong support," Reed said. "It clearly demonstrates how frustrated people are with Congressman Massa and Washington politics."
Reed said that preliminary figures indicate that his campaign raised more than $130,000 from approximately 300 donors during the quarter which ended September 30. "That is particularly humbling during these tough economic times," Reed observed. More than $120,000 of that money remains on hand. Specifics will be filed as required with the Federal Election Commission next week.
"The overwhelming majority of our financial support is coming from people right here," Reed said. "Our message that Washington is broken is striking a chord." Reed noted that the campaign has also recruited more than 600 volunteers since it began July 1.
Notable Reed contributors include former Congressman Amo Houghton, former Monroe County Executive Jack Doyle, Assemblymen Jim Bacalles, Brian Kolb, and Tom O'Mara, Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn, and Steuben County Sheriff Joel Ordway.
