Reed Welcomes Massa to Congressional Race; Calls Him Rubber Stamp for Democrats' Leadership
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Congressional candidate Corning Mayor Tom Reed today welcomed Congressman Eric J.J. Massa to the race for the 29th Congressional District seat. Reed noted that with Massa's formal entry into the race, a year of vigorous debate can begin about the future of the nation and Upstate New York.
"Our message that Washington is broken and that the Democrats' leadership is taking us in the wrong direction is proving to be very popular," Reed said. "We look forward to presenting our ideas and letting the voters decide who better represents their views."
Reed noted that according to statistics on the Washington Post website as of this morning, Eric Massa is one of the most partisan members of Congress. Massa has voted with his party leadership more than 95% of the time, which is higher than the average Democrat.
"During his announcement that he would seek re-election, Eric Massa portrayed himself as an independent," Reed observed, "but his record shows that isn't true. On some issues, such as a government takeover of health care, he is opposed to his party's proposals because they aren't liberal enough. On most issues, he is a rubber stamp for Democratic leaders. That leadership is bankrupting future generations and knows it can count on Eric Massa's vote."
