Congressman Massa's Votes Defy Common Sense
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"Audacious" was the word Congressional candidate Tom Reed used to describe Congressman Eric Massa's recent vote in support HR 3288 which appropriates $447 billion in spending including a staggering 5,224 earmarks. The vote passed 221-202.
"This vote solidifies beyond any doubt that Congressman Massa has lost touch with economic reality," Reed said. "Even 28 of his Democratic colleagues voted against this. We cannot continue to borrow money. We cannot borrow our way back into prosperity. This constant borrowing will cripple our children and grand children. It has to stop."
Among the spending increases Congressman Massa has supported this fall is an 8.4% increase for his office allowance. "I challenge Congressman Massa to name one business or one family in the 29th Congressional District which has increased its' spending on "administrative" items by that much this year," Reed said. "That they had the audacity to increase their office allowance at all, let alone by more than eight percent, is astounding."
"Once again, Congressman Massa's votes defy common sense," Reed observed. "It is as if he has never had to meet a budget or consider the long-term consequences of his actions before. Congressman Massa continues to spend today without considering who has to pay for it all tomorrow."
