Congressional candidate Tom Reed this morning announced that he has signed the Americans for Tax
Reform pledge to oppose any increase in the marginal income tax rates for individuals or businesses and
to oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by
further reducing tax rates.

“It’s no secret that families and businesses are struggling,” Reed said. “In business if you are struggling,
the last thing that will help you is raising your prices. Rather than finding new ways to tax and creating
new fees, Washington needs to control spending, stop borrowing, and learn to live on a budget.”

“Families have to live on a fixed budget,” Reed commented. “It’s time that Washington did too. Raising
individual and business taxes is a double blow: it means fewer jobs, less investment, and ultimately
higher prices for consumers.”
