Reed Jobs And Agriculture Task Forces Will Help Ensure That The Voice of Rural And Small City New York is Heard in Washington
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tom Reed this morning updated local media on his two announced task forces on jobs and agriculture.
The goal of the task forces is to determine two or three very specific actions that can be implemented by
the Federal government to encourage long-term job growth in Western New York in both the agrarian and
non-agrarian sectors of our local economy.
“I am pleased that we have so many people coming together from all corners of the district to lend a hand
and give input,” Reed said. “This is the team approach we will take to governing if I am elected. As we
listen to these task forces we learn, and that will help us be sure that the voice of rural and small city New
York is heard in Washington on the most important economic issue we have: jobs.
“I have spent my lifetime in Western New York, but it is helpful for me to hear directly from those who
are farming every day. They know best how national issues are impacting our local farms.” Local
agriculture issues such as environmental conservation, potential climate control legislation, H-2A visa
availability for seasonal agriculture workers, energy policy and estate tax reforms as just a few of the
areas in which Washington influences local agriculture. In addition to the task force, Reed just met with
Schuyler County farm bureau members last night.
“As a small businessman, I understand the challenges that businesses face,” Reed said. “But every day I
am learning more about how Washington’s unsustainable debt and borrowing hurt our businesses by
creating a negative atmosphere for investment and growth. The Jobs Task Force is a key part to helping
formulate solutions to the challenges our manufacturers face.”
“These groups are very helpful today and will continue to be as we move forward on the campaign and
hopefully in Congress after the Special Election in November.” The task forces will next meet in
September. Those interested in participating may contact Reed at info@TomReedforCongress.com.
