Tom Reed announced today that he supports the proposal to prohibit any “lame duck” session in
the House from being held between Election Day and Jan. 1, 2011.

“I support legislation introduced by Congressman Tom Price that would preclude the House from
holding a post-election lame duck session except in the case of an unforeseen, sudden emergency,”
Reed declared. “This would preclude more potential stimulus spending, borrowing and job killing
legislation like cap and trade. These could further damage the fragile economy.”

“If the Pelosi leadership wants to vote on issues like this, it should do so in the light of day before
Election Day,” Reed continued. “That would allow voters to decide if they want to continue down
the borrow and spend path or choose a more prudent approach to our national finances. Either
way, this government has to get back to respecting the will of the people.”
