REED COMMITTED TO UNDERSTANDING POVERTY ON ALL LEVELS
Finding solutions to address poverty in both rural and urban America
Corning- Tom Reed advances his commitment to solving poverty in New York and nationwide. “I am committed to taking care of our families,” said Tom Reed. “We need to better understand poverty on all levels both rural and urban. This is why I’ve been in urban Cleveland, Rochester, and throughout Western New York in our rural district trying to understand poverty on different levels.”
“By taking a deeper look into poverty throughout our nation, we can find the root cause and address it fairly in order to give our families the ability to boost themselves up,” continued Reed.
Tom with his family and Rep. Tom Emmer (MN) with his family helped serve kids meals at the Cleveland Boys and Girls Club. Kristin Warzocha, CEO & President of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank said, “We were delighted that Congressman Reed and his family joined us at a summer meal site when he was in Cleveland...” She continued by praising Reed for his dedication to solving hunger and poverty related issues, “We know from his past leadership that he understands the importance of providing nutritious food for struggling families and seniors in our communities. His efforts led to the charitable food donation tax credit becoming permanent. Bravo!”
“We must set politics aside and come together to create fair policies that give our families the chance to succeed,” continued Reed. “I’ve been working with and talking with congressional leaders nationally including Speaker Paul Ryan, in addition to leaders throughout New York like Mayor Warren of Rochester. By working with these leaders we can address poverty nationwide.”
